PVDF (PVF2) COATING
Aluminum panels are used in architectural facade designs for it's aesthetics, ease of installation, light weight and ability to be formed into unique designs. Even though it is popular to use aluminum panels, the aluminum panel cannot be used in it's raw form. When exposed to the natural elements, aluminum will oxidize and be vulnerable. PVDF coating protects aluminum products from oxidation and provides aesthetic elements.

KYNAR 500®
PVDF coating, also known as Flurocarbon Coating, PVF2 Coating and Kynar 500® (a registered trademark of Arkema, Inc.), is a specialised coating system that is specifically developed for aluminum panels. PVDF coating is a resin based coating with 70% fluoropolymer resins. For over 50 years, PVDF coating has proven to have high performance on exterior architectural aluminum products. PVDF coating is highly resistant towards color fading, gloss fading, chalking, chipping, and peeling, providing the ultimate performance against weathering in environments with industrial or marine conditions. PVDF coating is also resistant to airborne pollutants, salts, stains, chemicals and corrosion, with additional self cleaning properties. Our coating application complies with AAMA 2605 (Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers Association). This high performance specification is the highest standard available for organic coatings on architectural aluminum extrusions and panels, reserved for products that offer superior performance.
Our pretreatment and coating processes are all done in-house with our horizontal coating line; that can reach panel sizes up to 2 meters (6.5 ft) in width, 10 meters (32 ft) in length and 0.5 meters (1.6 ft) in depth. The pretreatment process is also a key component to coating application, to ensure the optimal coating adhesion by cleaning, etching and chromating aluminum's surface.

Duranar PVDF systems consist of 2 layers of paint; a primer and top coat. The top coat is the layer which contains the color of the coating. This PVDF coating carries a broad range of solid,
non-metallic colors. The Duranar 2 coat PVDF system has a warranty of 15 years.

2 COAT - DURANAR SUNSTORM PVDF COATING
Duranar Sunstorm PVDF systems consist of 2 layers of paint; a primer and top coat. This PVDF coating carries a broad range of metallic colors. The top coat consists of mica flakes that can achieve a metallic effect. The Duranar 2 coat PVDF system has a warranty of 20 years.

3 COAT - DURANAR XL PVDF COATING
Duranar XL PVDF systems consist of 3 layers of paint; a primer coat, top coat and clear coat. This PVDF coating carries a broad range of metallic colors. The top coat uses aluminum flakes to achieve metallic colors. A clear coat is applied onto the top coat to protect the metallic flakes from oxidizing.
The Duranar XL 3 coat PVDF system has a warranty of 20 years.

3 COAT - DURANAR XL EXOTIC PVDF COATING
Duranar XL Exotic PVDF systems consist of 3 layers of paint; a primer coat, top coat and clear coat. These colors carry a surcharge due to their exotic pigmentation. Certain exotic colors may also require a barrier coat and/or the XL clear coat. The Duranar XL 3 coat PVDF system has a warranty of 20 years.

4 COAT - DURANAR XL SPECIALTY PVDF COATING
Duranar XL Specialty PVDF systems consist of 4 layers of paint; a primer coat, barrier coat, top coat and clear coat. This PVDF coating carries a broad range of unique metallic colors. The top coat of these colors can be a bit transparent, so a barrier coat is added so that the substrate cannot be seen through the PVDF coating. The Duranar XL Specialty 4 coat PVDF system has a warranty of 20 years.

USES
PVDF coatings are used on architectural building materials such as roofing, siding, extrusions, cladding, curtain walls, window frames, shop fronts, lighting fixtures, retail store interiors, louvers, parapet caps, ventilation parts and outdoor signage. PVDF coated panels can be structurally glazed into curtain wall systems. Structural silicone can strongly bond PVDF coated surfaces together, eliminating the need for screws and other fixing accessories.
